Return of the Libertines – following on from the success of their short run of shows in some of the UK’s largest venues (namely Hyde Park and Alexandra Palace) the Libertines signed a new major record deal with Virgin EMI Records at the end of last with the intention of releasing a new album in 2015. If Barat and Doherty manage to keep their act together and reach the high levels of song-writting they did on their previous two albums then the return of the Libertines is sure to be a highlight of 2015. Especially if they play some of the festivals that they’re rumoured to be headlining this summer (Glastonbury and Reading + Leeds).
Peace’s 2nd Album – The follow up to Peace’s debut album In Love is eagerly anticipated by all music lovers and if their released singles Money, Lost on Me and Gen Strange are anything to go by, it should also be a massive success. Live favourite World Pleasure (also on the album) indicates and interesting experimental twist on Peace’s trademark sound, seeing the band use spoken verses and exhilarating guitar solos. A definite album to get in 2015.
Foo Fighters Stadium Shows – Possibly the best live act in the world return to the UK this year to play two sold-out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium and maybe even Glastonbury??? Sure to be a tour not to be missed, Dave Grohl and the band will showcase their latest Sonic Highways album to UK audiences as well as celebrating their 20th anniversary together as a band.
New Acts that Breakthrough – 2014 saw the emergence of triumphant acts such as; Royal Blood, Jungle, Circa Waves and The Orwells, its now that we eagerly look forward to 2015 to try and predict the new hot prospects in the music world and see whether indie/ alternative music can build on the large steps forward it took last year. Artists including Wolf Alice, Darlia, Courtney Barnett and Public Access TV look to be building up strong momentum going into 2015.
New material from Noel Gallagher – 2015 also sees ex-Oasis legend Noel Gallagher release his latest solo album with backing band The High Flying Birds. New singles Heat of the Moment and Do the Damage hint at good things to come for Noel in 2015, even without an Oasis reunion…
